The Game Changer Night

On the 18th of July in Sydney, to an eager audience of about two hundred and fifty people, Powerhouse Solar-module wholesalers, Powerark Solar and Solar Juice held an event which has since left a positive impression on the Australian Solar Market. Powerark Solar and Solar Juice have collaboratively launched the brand ‘Sunport Power’ a rage of solar PV modules which were built in a way that overshadows current solar panels within the Australian market in terms of efficiency. Sunport Power introduced the MWT technology to the hundreds of attending Australian retailers and installers. MTW technology is when the PV modules are built with metal wrap through technology which can combine with almost any solar cell technology. MWT technology provides increased module efficiency, is lead-free and provides enhanced performance of the PV module over a longer period of time.

Take it from the Expert

Powerark Solar and Solar Juice hosted alongside key speaker Professor Martin Green, Chief Scientific Officer at Sunport Power. Professor Green spoke positively about the way in which Sunport Power combined two advanced technologies to achieve a technology better than any out there. This MWT (Metal wrap through) technology allows you to get a more proficient current from the front-facing side of the cell through to the back of the module.

‘Father of PV’ Martin Green launches the next generation of solar modules

The Sunport Power panels achieve efficiencies of between 18% – 20%. Although pricing has not yet been set in the Australian market, it is speculated that the products will sit between entry-level price to mid-range PV modules, SunPort Power will reflect these price ranges when they are launched in mid to late August.

Chami, Business Development Manager of Solar Juice believes that at a commercial- scale installation, government contacts are now specifying a minimum of 20% efficiency. The competitive pricing and efficiency of Sunport Power modules will make them a highly competitive player against high-end panels currently giving similar performance levels.

Additionally, Sunport Power’s product range includes a module which is flexible and can be bent around a 25 cm radius. Green mentioned, “This way the cells are interconnected and have particular advantages in terms of the stress you get when bending a module”. This range of module is great for solar users in windy areas.

Sunport Power’s lightweight flexible module drew great interest from commercial installers during the brand launch. Some commercial installers found that the lighter PV module will make for better installation due to slender construction of some commercial buildings here in Australia.

Sunport Power Warranty Factor

Another special guest who appeared at the Game Changer event was Mr Jon Dee, the Australian coordinator for RE100, the global organisation that helps businesses commit to 100% renewable energy. Dee was the MC for the evening of the event and spoke highly of the 30-year warranty that comes with Sunport Power modules and provides a 12-year replacement cover of faulty Sunport Panels.
Solar Juice Business Development Manager Chami hopes that Sunport will bring down its price tag to allow person wanting to purchase the products, the ability to have high-quality products for a fraction of the price.

All in all, the event was a success and played a favourable role for the Victorian solar industry. Solar Retailers and installers will have a new brand to watch out for once it hits the Australian Solar Market, which can drastically improve the efficiency of their PV system installations leaving more customers happy.
